Custom WordPress Theme
A theme establishing the portal’s visual identity within Ontario government design requirements, with accessible, responsive templates for the range of content types the portal serves: program pages, resource listings, employer guides, and job seeker information. Accessibility compliance built into the template architecture from the start.
Review-by-Date Governance
Content governance functionality flagging items for editorial review when their scheduled review date arrives. Critical for a government portal where outdated program information - expired deadlines, changed eligibility criteria, discontinued programs - has direct impact on citizens relying on the portal for employment decision-making.
File Manager Customization
Document management capabilities extended to support the portal’s resource library - the range of employment guides, program documents, and employer resources distributed through the portal to different audience segments.
Relevanssi Search Customization
Default WordPress search replaced with a relevance-ranked, configurable search layer suited to the portal’s complex content taxonomy. Relevanssi configured to weight results appropriately for a content library spanning multiple program areas and audience types.
Extensive ACF Modifications
Custom post type file listings and structured content relationships needed for the portal’s information architecture added via Advanced Custom Fields. The ACF layer enabled the editorial team to manage complex relationships between programs, resources, and service providers without custom database work.
Custom Newsletter Plugin
A purpose-built newsletter plugin handling subscription management and content delivery to the portal’s subscriber list - entirely custom, giving the team full control over the subscription experience, list management, and content distribution rather than adapting a generic email marketing tool to government requirements.
